Join us for a deep and rejuvenating workshop focused on soothing the nervous system for greater ease and calm!
This 2-part series offered as a whole or in individual sessions will introduce you to general approaches to somatic (body-based) healing. The session dates are Sunday March 3 and Sunday March 10 from 3-5pm at Green Yogi Telegraph.
We will learn the basics of nervous system regulation and the meaning/theory of the fight/flight/freeze/collapse response through practice and discussion. Together we will practice and build tools of emotional resiliency and resourcing.
Session 1: Intro to the Nervous System and Tools for Self-Regulation via yoga postures, and other movement forms, breathing, music and relaxation. We will learn how to track activation and regulation states via somatic awareness, and somatic exercises including visualization, movement, sensing, feeling and meaning. We will address how to work with anxiety and depression using somatic tools and awareness.
Session 2: This session will continue the work of Session 1 with a focus on how to work with distraction, overwhelm, procrastination and channeling creativity using somatic tools and yoga practices, journaling and art. We will also discuss how to create a personal practice that we can do at home to help us self-regulate during difficult times, or during times when we need more support.
The goal of this workshop is to offer affordable support and learning in a group setting and to provide life-long tools for healing and resiliency.
Participants will come away with a new or deeper understanding of how our nervous systems get activated, and how to work with various states of hyper-arousal, hyper-vigilance, collapse andinertia. Tools for somatic awareness, somatic resourcing, emotional resiliency and increased self-knowledge will be core takeaways.
