Are you feeling ready for a big shift in your life?

Do you want to deepen your understanding and practice of yoga?

Would you like to learn how to skillfully share the benefits of yoga with others?

If you felt a big YES rise up in your heart in response to any of these questions, the Green Yogi 200 Hour Teacher Training welcomes YOU to join us in 2025!

Yoga is a powerful path of transformation.

We honor you and respect your desire to understand more about yoga and to share it with the world. It is a special moment in your life when you decide to sign up for a yoga teacher training. It means that you have decided to commit to personal growth, accountability, and serving others. This program was born out of a deep desire to grow a community that values personal growth and heart-centered leadership. Together we will explore what it means to practice deeply, to make choices that bring harmony, and to hold space for other people’s transformation, too!

The Green Yogi  is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga school (RYS) and our 200 Hour Teacher Training is a unique program

we value personal growth, service to community, and safe and skillful teaching. It honors the origins of yoga through studying its history and philosophy, and also integrates a modern, socially conscious and inclusive perspective. The yoga style taught in this training is a fusion of traditional alignment-based Hatha Yoga and intelligent dynamic Vinyasa.
This program emphasizes personal transformation, the development of a strong personal practice, and a solid understanding of key yogic tools and concepts such as asana, mantra, mudra, pranayama, meditation, functional anatomy, and philosophy.

While the personal growth of our trainees is paramount, it is equally important that they graduate with the ability to teach a great yoga class!

The Green Yogi 200 hour training prepares students to become excellent yoga teachers by giving them the tools necessary to develop clear communication skills and an authentic voice, to intelligently craft their own unique, safe sequences, and to integrate inspiring themes into their classes. This training also offers real world teaching opportunities and gives specific guidance on starting a yoga teaching career.

We value our community!

With a combination of excellent teachers and strong community, students come out of our trainings with improved physical, mental, and emotional health, a sense of spiritual development, and many new friends and connections. Those who complete the program will have all that they need to immediately begin teaching yoga classes. Graduates will also continue to receive support from the Green Yogi studio through community, workshops, mentorships, and opportunities to practice teaching.

Opportunities to actually begin teaching!

As part of this program, trainees will have the opportunity to actually practice leading real yoga classes to the community! We offer free yoga classes on the studio’s public schedule which are listed as being taught by “teachers in training”. As a student in our 200 Hour Training, you can sign up to teach some of these full length classes.
It can sometimes be difficult for new yoga teachers to find a place to begin and gain real world experience, so this is a great way to get started!

Practice Sessions – Training Instructors lead students through a yoga practice that reflects what they are studying at that point in the program. Each practice revolves around specific poses, demonstrates certain sequencing, and models particular teaching skills.

  • In order to graduate from this program, receive a certificate of completion, and be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as RYT200 participants need to fulfill the following requirements:

100% Attendance - Students must complete the entirety of the 200 hour program in order to get full credit, graduate, and receive certification. Should extenuating circumstances arise, students are permitted to miss up to 5 days, but they must make up for the content missed on those days through homework and private sessions. If a student misses more than 5 days total then complete make up may not be possible within the course of the current program, and they may need to retake the entire program in the future to receive full credit. For these reasons, it is important for those who sign up to commit to missing as few hours as possible.

Process for making up missed hours:

Missed sessions must be made up through written homework, video classes, or scheduling a make up session with a lead trainer. The nature of the make work depends on the type of content that was missed. Private sessions with a lead trainer would need to be scheduled separately and cost $100/hour of time.

Prompt Arrival - Students must be on time for class, after breaks, and after lunch.

Presence - Students must demonstrate a willingness to show up, learn, be present, and participate in group activities and teaching exercises.

Proof of Competency - Students must complete all homework assignments and the final exam, and they must give a final teaching presentation.

Homework - In addition the 185 contact hours that are on the schedule, students will have to complete 15 hours of “Homework” by doing the following before graduation:

1- Attend public classes as practitioners at Green Yogi

2- Observe public classes at Green Yogi

3- Record yourself teaching a full length class (60min) to your friends or family at home and submit the video.

Students should recognize that, if they miss training hours that they have not made up, or if they do not complete their homework, they will not graduate from the program.

If a student misses more than 5 days worth of program sessions, then make up might not be possible within the course of the current training and they will need to retake the entire program in the future in order to receive full credit.

Students who drop out or miss more than 5 days worth of sessions will not receive a refund.

Testimonials:

The green yogi 200 Hour teacher training was a very special experience.

It was full of intentional programming, educational workshops, community building and spontaneous yoga magic! While the training was a large time and financial commitment, I felt that it was completely worth it and that in the long-term I really invested in myself and my personal healing journey. I am grateful that I really felt prepared to teach a full yoga class by the time I finished the training. The teachers and special guests were wonderful and each came with their own gifts and wisdom to share with the group. I recommend this training to folks looking to deepen their personal practice, share the art of yoga with others, build mindful community in the East Bay, and plant seeds for personal growth and transformation. ~ Aliza Herzberg
“The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at The Green Yogi was well structured and well taught. Teachers were knowledgeable about the asana practice, classes explored the philosophy of yoga as well as covered in depth anatomy and physiology lessons. Special class series helped to illuminate different schools of yoga or related studies. Teachers were receptive to feedback and dedicated to making the space inclusive, culturally humble, and safe.” ~ Aradhana Tiwari

“I enjoyed the teacher training offered at The Green Yogi.

From the start it felt right to sign up and the community, teachers, and space were all wonderful. The training was diverse and included a membership to the studio, allowing us to attend as many classes as we could while in training. I joined the training to deepen my practice and figure out how to incorporate yoga into my daily life and work. The thing I enjoyed most about this program was the people! It was a really supportive community where I felt I could continually bring my authentic self. I now have a much deeper understanding of yoga and how it can apply to my everyday life and I am excited to share that with other people through teaching.”
~ Rahmat Balogun, DO
“I received a solid foundation in the fundamentals of yoga from this skillful team.  The green yogi teacher training provided me with a supportive and nourishing community container for studying yoga and, in the process, myself. The diversity of teachers is a strength of this training which offered several lenses for understanding yoga. Thank you, Green Yogi.”
~ Erin Riordan

“The Green Yogi 200-hour yoga teacher training provided me with the confidence and skills…

…to not only teach yoga, but to also deepen my own practice and continue growing beyond the teacher training. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive throughout the process. And, the guest teachers provide important and diverse perspectives that complement the training. I felt that I received a thorough education in a safe and thoughtful environment. Through this program, I gained a deeper understanding of yoga and a new community to share it with. I really enjoyed The Green Yogi’s teacher training and would recommend it to anyone curious about teaching yoga or interested in gaining a deeper understanding of their own practice.”
