Knee pain is a common complaint in the body. Whether we have chronic or occasional pain in the knee, we often deepen our suffering through having an unskillful and unkind relationship to the pain. Due to years of striving, misuse, and overuse, Satya has been working with bone deterioration in her knees for years. She will offer self-massage, strengthening, and stretching techniques that may help manage or eliminate knee pain. Practice techniques to strengthen and release the major muscles and fascia related knee pain: gluteus muscles, rotators, tensor fascia, quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves. We will move slowly and methodically into Yoga poses that strengthen and stabilize around the knee and stretch key muscles so the knees and all joints glide and act as shock absorbers. Discover how cultivating radical acceptance, loving-kindness, and compassion can transform our relationship to our physical pain. Even folks without knee pain will learn a lot in this workshop: the principles of biomechanics that support movement of all sorts, sitting in a way that supports all joints, modifications for healthy aging and longevity, and how to foster alignment in Yoga poses for the optimal flow of energy. Along with a 90 minute full spectrum gentle Hatha practice, we will explore contemplation, discussion, and partner activities. Bring a journal and a writing utensil.
