The Workshops
Essential Practice for Women with Surya Little
Date: Friday February 14
Time: 3-5pm
For all women, vitality and health require attention to the cyclical changes that take place over the course of a lifetime. While practicing yoga, it is essential that each of us honor our unique physiology by listening to the inherent changes that take place within. By attending to our natural biorhythms, we tailor yoga practices specifically for the changes in our levels of energy, sleep patterns, and hormonal rhythms.
Registration for this workshop is $65.
Somatic Awareness for Yoga: Breath Waves, Tides and Flow with Tias Little
Date: Saturday February 15
Time: 11am-1:30pm
In this class we support the inherent motion of the diaphragm in all poses by following a wave-like motion of the breath. Sometimes the breath becomes very shallow (low tide) while at other times it expands and widens (high tide). In this class we do somatic movements and yoga postures to pump the breath in wave-like patterns. We take the approach that the breath cannot be forced or insisted upon, but that respiration will “reset” as releases in the connective tissues naturally occur.
Registration for this workshop is $70.
The Storehouse of Vitality in the Deep Belly with Tias Little
Date: Saturday February 15
Time: 3-5:30pm
The region just below the navel is the center of gravity in the body. Called the hara in zen, the dantian in qi gong, and related to the second chakra in yoga, the deep belly is the source of the breath and the origin of the deep life force. It is not only the region for balance and support in the body, but also is a source for great energy and feeling. In this class we initiate every movement and every pose from the lower belly. Through active and passive positions, we stretch, expand, and strengthen the tissues of the lower abdomen. By engaging the deep belly, we tap the source of prana and recharge the entire bioelectric field of the body.
Registration for this workshop is $70.
Loosen the Outside, Strengthen the Inside with Tias Little
Date: Sunday February 16
Time: 11am-1:30pm
All movement practices in the healing arts, whether tai chi, yoga or qi gung, look to create a supple and open exterior while simultaneously building core strength within. In this class we take a deep dive into the body’s interior connective tissues to align and strengthen the iliopsoas muscle, the diaphragm and gut while making the outer sleeves of the body both pliable and permeable. We translate this practice off the mat, to be adaptable and receptive on the outside while remaining stable and enduring within.
Registration for this workshop is $70.
Register for all four workshops for $220!
